Veterans Day is a national U.S. holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars, celebrated on Nov. 11 each year. In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I, then known as, ‘The Great War.’

Commemorated in many countries as Armistice Day the following year, Nov. 11 became a U.S. federal holiday in 1938. Following World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became known as Veterans Day. Today, Nutrabolt wishes all who served and our own veteran teammates a Happy Veterans Day!

At Nutrabolt, we’re determined to continue building a workplace for all. Today, Nutrabolt teammate Kelsey Bohachek is both a Customer Operations Specialist here, and actively serving as a Staff Sgt. for the 178th Force Support Squadron in the Air National Guard.

“I’ve always had the drive to serve my country, and the opportunity provided by the Air National Guard was the optimal fit for what I was looking for in my career,” Kelsey said.

Mark Dittenber, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and IT Director at Nutrabolt, completed tours to the Persian Gulf for Desert Storm and Desert Shield, and a follow-up tour on ship. He attributes the success he’s had in his career to the skills he learned in the Marine Corps.

“On my last tour overseas, I was assigned to operations, and that taught me project management skills at an unparalleled level. Additionally, the discipline and leadership skills I learned have shaped my career,” Mark said.

The transition to civilian life looks different for every warrior, family member, and caregiver. Every service member should have a positive future to look forward to, another goal to achieve, and another mission to discover. To help our nation’s heroes maximize their full potential, Nutrabolt and C4 Energy proudly launched a two-year partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), to provide free, life-changing programs to injured veterans, to support their physical and mental well-being.

The strategic partnership also includes C4 Energy as the national pre-workout sponsor for WWP’sCarry Forward® 5K events, a $500,000 donation over the span of two years, education for consumers on WWP’s programs and services, an exclusive C4 Energy x WWP Mango Foxtrot flavor and special edition pre-workout, and ‘The Weight of It: A Walk for Remembrance:’ a 205-mile weighted ruck carry with U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Cpl. Nick Perales.

On Nov. 5 this year, Nutrabolt teammates put ‘for all’ into action, and participated in WWP’s Carry Forward 5K to support wounded warriors, families, and caregivers. Greg Moran, U.S. Army veteran and Divisional VP, Beverage at Nutrabolt, participated in the event, and crossed the finish line carrying the C4 Energy x WWP flag.

“This partnership is very personal for me. I have friends that I made during my time in the service that live with PTSD, while others have suffered life-changing physical injuries,” Greg said. “It makes me so proud that we are not only donating money to support this amazing organization that has changed the lives of friends and service members from every branch and their families, but that I work for a company that cares enough to make this happen.”

To help our teammates learn about the importance of our partnership with WWP, Danielle Green, a special guest from the Wounded Warrior Project, spoke to Nutrabolt teammates on Nov. 8 about her personal story as a service member, and why the partnership is so important to her.

Before Todd Spinks, Nutrabolt’s VP, ESG and Corporate Responsibility entered the corporate world, he was a Blackhawk crew chief and mechanic in the U.S. Army, and served overseas in South Korea. Todd notes the importance of community and corporate support of organizations that help bridge the gap for veterans as they transition to civilian life.

“As a Nutrabolt teammate, I am so very proud of our company in its sincere passion to support the Wounded Warriors Project. Our engagement and donation will help bolster WWP’s contribution to the health and wellness of our veterans,” Todd said. “I suppose, to sum it up, veterans have done so much in their lives for all of us, and it is a privilege to be part of thanking them in a way that makes their lives better.”
