ril is National Volunteer Month! And today, we’re excited to tell you about our People team’s recent volunteer outing to the Central Texas Food Bank in our hometown of Austin, Texas.

As part of Nutrabolt’s commitment to serve our people, our communities, and the planet, we provide 24 hours of Volunteer Time Off to all teammates, in addition to an employer match donation program and other charitable opportunities that deliver on our longstanding mantra to ‘grow and give back.’

Central Texas Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas. Their mission is “to nourish hungry people and lead the community in the fight against hunger.” While the Austin area is one of the fastest-growing regions in the nation, this growth can come at a high cost, and affect individuals right in our own community. In fact, according to Centraltexasfoodbank.org, — 64% of their client households have at least one working adult, and 93% of clients are not considered homeless.

At Nutrabolt, we don’t want to be on the sidelines in the fight against hunger, we aim to be part of the solution. That’s why our People team dove right in to help prepare food donations for distribution to our neighbors. Many of our teammates took on the job of cleaning donated items, checking their quality, and sending them down to the next team for packing.

Heidi O., Director, Talent Acquisition and Attraction at Nutrabolt, said it’s important to her team to find ways to volunteer together when everyone is in town.

“We have a great team who’s always throwing out new ideas on how we can serve whenever we get together as a team,” Heidi said. “We try to add something in as a team-building activity, that also supports our community. It’s a great way to get involved!”

The People team traveled into Austin for a couple of days of in-person collaboration. Anna A., Executive Assistant at Nutrabolt, said to take time off from meetings, and serve others as one team, gave her a chance to spend time with teammates whom she doesn’t regularly get to be around.

“I enjoyed most just getting with my team – especially the people that I don’t get to see on a daily basis — doing something for a great cause, and having fun while we’re doing it,” she said.

Nutrabolt also actively supports our flagship charitable partner, the GiveJoy Foundation, by participating in the annual Grow and Give Back Holiday Drive, and other volunteer events throughout the year. And, we are a member of Pledge 1%, and donate 1% of our annual profit to non-profit organizations in our local community, and the global communities we serve.

While our home base is Austin, Texas — we have teammates all over the country, and even the globe! Every teammate is empowered to take Volunteer Time Off at any time during the year, and support a cause that’s meaningful to them. Teammates leverage a platform called, ‘YourCause’ to record their volunteer hours, make donations, request a donation match from Nutrabolt, and find volunteer opportunities in their area.

“Nutrabolt makes it possible to take off during work hours and to serve our community, not only in an individual setting, but a group setting,” Jessica O. said, Recruiter at Nutrabolt. “They give us 24 hours a year to help others in need, so there’s no reason that you can’t take off work and help anyone out there.”

With Nutrabolt’s ‘dollars for doers’ program, if a teammate hits 20 hours of volunteer service — Nutrabolt will donate $250 to an eligible non-profit of their choice. Teammates can cash in for their favorite charity twice per year, totaling 40 volunteer hours.

This summer, Nutrabolt will hold its inaugural company-wide service day on Aug. 11. Teammates are encouraged to take the day off, and serve those in need around them with others in their area, or as an individual.

“We have teammates all over the country, all over the world — so it’s great to connect with people in your local neighborhood, get together, and go do something in your community,” Heidi said. “It’s a great way to get away from work, and do something for good.”
